STOP TRAFFICKING OUTREACH
Human Trafficking Prevention and Restoration
Human trafficking in San Diego is growing at alarming rate, and is affecting families and individuals all across San Diego county. There are roughly 8000 victims trafficked each year in San Diego with the average age of a trafficked victim now at 15.
The Coastline Dream Center is called to help raise awareness and educate the families and citizens of our community in order to keep them safe, and to help them become vigilant of potentially dangerous circumstances.
Additionally, we are passionate about supporting and pouring into survivors of trafficking by partnering with organizations that provide the services to rehabilitate these individuals and return them to physically and emotionally healthy lives. Currently, the Dream Center partners with Generate Hope, Promises to Kids and other organizations to provide opportunities to serve as mentors, guides, teachers, cheerleaders, and a wide variety of other roles.
It is important to understand the scope and scale of human trafficking, how it happens, how to recognize it and what to do should you encounter it. We created this resource guide to answer the most frequently asked questions and provide you with tools, information and action steps.
If you have questions, please reach out to Alisha Merlo, Coastline Dream Center Stop Trafficking Outreach Team Leader at [email protected].

The U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline sees annual increases in the number of victims and survivors directly contacting the hotline according to Polaris, the nonprofit that runs the hotline for victims and survivors. Read that again, an increase in reports but we also know that countless victims that are being exploited go unreported.
Human trafficking is prevalent, but frequently misunderstood. It changes with the times and often happens closer to home than some might believe. "Trafficking is profoundly adaptable and dynamic," said Caren Benjamin, chief communications officer for Polaris.
California is #1 in the nation for reports of human trafficking and San Diego County is on the FBI's worst list. It's happening here, right in North County too.
The first step is to learn more about human trafficking and then talk about it. With your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. You can use the resource tools at the bottom of this page to help you learn and start conversations. We are in it to end it.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and no better time for us to open our doors to the network of churches, community members,
and organizations and ministries that are engaged in ending human trafficking and supporting survivors.
The meeting is designed to be a prayer meeting for those who are on the frontlines. Representatives of these organizations and ministries also share information and updates on their work so prayer can be very specific. Churches and community members from around San Diego are invited and encouraged to attend.
